DEAR FRANCES
Choreography: Ruaidhrí Maguire Music: Amelia Clarkson
Premiered 4th June 2019
Dear Frances is a new one act ballet, created in collaboration with composer Amelia Clarkson in Spring 2019.
The piece is based entirely on the letters and life of Frances Shea, the young East London woman who would go on to become the wife of infamous gangster, Reggie Kray. Set in 1960's London, the ballet explores the sensitive issues of mental health and sexual consent, whilst also commenting on the escalating crisis ofUK gang culture.
Featuring dancers from the Baltic Opera Ballet, and a brand new score by Amelia Clarkson, the ballet premiered in Blackheath Halls, Trinity Laban, London. The collaboration was described by Trinity Laban panellists as 'astounding'.
