RUAIDHRí MAGUIRE
DANCER CHOREOGRAPHER TEACHER
Ruaidhrí Maguire is a choreographer and ballet dancer from Ireland currently working between Ireland and Poland.
PERFORMING Ruaidhrí is a dancer with Ballet Ireland (National Ballet of Ireland) and before that he was a soloist with the Baltic Opera Ballet in Gdansk, Poland for 6 years. Prior to this, he has performed across the United States, Canada, and Europe with four companies and multiple guestings. Notable roles include Albrecht in Giselle, Nutcracker Prince in The Nutcracker, Espada in Don Quixote, Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Principal Couple in Cuatro Estaciones de Buenos Aires. CHOREOGRAPHY Ruaidhrí's choreography explores the ideas of self-portraiture and how this can affect the relationships with yourself and those around you. His most recent work White Doves for Six Dance Collective premiered at The MAC, Belfast, Aug 2023. Ruaidhrí is currently developing a new dance film with support from Dance Ireland. TEACHING He is passionate about working with young dancers and performers and has worked extensively with individuals and youth groups as both a teacher and choreographer. Ruaidhrí
believes in making ballet accessible to all communities and in challenging any preconceived conceptions about ballet as an elitist art form. Learn more here.
BACKGROUND Ruaidhrí began his classical training with the Roberta McCormick School of Ballet and Laura Walker Ballet School. After this, he began his vocational training at the Central School of Ballet, London under Resmi Malko, Aurora Bosch, Christopher Marney, and William Glassman. He was generously supported by the Lord and Lady Lurgan Trust and by Ballet Central.
